This ride will be a strictly social event, with a relaxed pace along the scenic route from the Ventura coast to above Santa Barbara. Our destination is Handlebar Coffee for refreshments on the club.
Handlebar is owned by two former pro cyclists, who roast their own beans and make the usual coffee drinks, with the addition of the house special "Gibraltar" (a suitable reward for those that have conquered that peak above town) There is a cool patio hang out and a historic site across the street for an overflow crowd.
7:00 am - Meet at Performance to carpool to Ventura
8:00 am - Meet in Downtown Ventura in the Free All Day Parking lot next to the Salvation Army building (155 S. Oak St.). It's on the west side of S. Oak St. between E. Thomson and E. Santa Clara. From the 101, get off at California St., turn right. Make an immediate left onto Thompson. Turn right on the first street onto S Oak.
8:15 am - Roll out on our bikes.
If you've done the classic Cool Breeze Century, you'll recognize much of the route. Here's the link to the Strava route map:
This is a social paced ride so we'll plan to regroup at the top of the following:
1. Casitas Pass Rd (after Bates Rd)
2. Ortega Ridge Rd (in Summerland)
3. E. Mountain Dr (in Montecito)
From Handlebar it's a nice flat cruise along the cost back to Ventura for a total ride of about 67 miles.
By the way, if you know anyone that's interested in becoming a Club member, please feel free to invite them along.
